We are working on Stop Motion Videos! Students created original stories, made props out of art supplies, and began taking pictures. Did you know that in a stop motion video, 12 shots =1 second?!?! Stop motion is a lot of work, but the end product is amazing ! Students will continue their work in the next STEAM club meeting. I told students they could bring their own devices in next Monday with a Stop Motion app already installed. Our school iPads do not have any Stop Motion apps on them (I am currently working on getting it approved and installed). Students can use iMovie, but it is a much easier and smoother process using the app. Click the button below for a list of the best Stop Motion apps.
This week during STEAM Club, we worked with Makey Makey & Scratch. This is an awesome tool that allows students to become inventors! Click the button below to learn more!
This week, we learned how to code on Scratch! Students can make a free Scratch account and save their work! Click on the button below to check it out. Students will be coding their very own robots in the next few weeks! STEAM T-ShirtsJust a reminder, all entries for the STEAM T-Shirt Design Competition are due next Monday, September 24. (See last week's blog post for in depth details about the event.) 4:00pm - 4:15pm Student exhibitors arrive, sign in and set up their tables in the lower gym All exhibitors will be given an exhibitor badge at check-in). 4:15pm - 4:55pm Student exhibitors visit corporate exhibits in upper gym. 5:00pm - 5:45pm Student exhibitors have dinner in the cafeteria (pizza and drinks). 6:00pm - 8:00pm Student exhibitors are at their school exhibit tables. 8:00pm - 8:15pm Student exhibitors pack up their exhibits. Just a reminder, some student did not elect to do a robotics project. Those students do NOT have to be there by 4:00. If your child is NOT doing a robotics project, you can bring them at 6:00. Do you want to donate to STEM club? We are in need of 2025 batteries. These batteries control our programmable remotes! We are excited to program the remotes next Monday. If you would like to donate, please send one in with your child this week. Thank you!
Join Mrs. Gray, Mrs. Brown, and I at the STEAM Showcase on Wednesday March 14th from 6-8pm! This is an awesome event ! By showing up, you can also help our school win the grand prize for best attendance!!! The grand prize is a 1,000 grant to be used for an interactive STEAM experience. This would be so cool! Please RSVP below by clicking the button so I can get a good estimate of how many people will be attending.
We worked with the Robotics Kits, Little Bits, Makey Makey, and Scratch. Students created, built, and reconstructed products. Their excitement was awesome! Be sure to ask your child what they worked on! You can access Scratch for free from home. Students can code games and create characters! I am in need of Double A batteries for our Robotics Kits. If you are interested in donating some, I would be so grateful! |
