The role of the media specialist has changed drastically over the last five years! The core of being a METI is helping create a 21st century learning environment. This year, I plan on coming into classrooms on a regular basis to co-teach information literacy skills as well as support the integration of educational technology. This will be a little different then our experience in the past as Media Center is no longer a special. Every class will come in for a 20 minute check out time twice a month. Students can come up to the library to return and check out books at any point during the day as well. In addition to this, I have a shared calendar where you can book me to come in a co-teach, lead, or support lessons. I have included the job role below for clarification. I can't wait to work with you and your students!
Here are some important things to remember:
* Any teacher can schedule a push in lesson
* ALL teachers are encouraged to schedule lessons every month
* Media lessons directly impact classroom standards and will be integrated into what students are currently learning. Teachers are expected to stay in the room for the lesson and participate.
* Lessons may take place in the media center or your classroom (this is your choice and depends on what the lesson is)
